EST-Floattech supplies batteries to Rolls-Royce in an order for nine battery hybrid ferries

Under an agreed framework contract, EST-Floattech will supply its ’Green Orca 1050’-series battery modules as part of Rolls-Royce’s propulsion contract to outfit nine ferries for Italian operator Liberty Lines.

Each of the modules has a 10.5 kWh capacity, with the total outfitting contract for EST-Floattech adding 3,118.5 kWh of power to the propulsion order for the vessels.

Spanish shipyard Astilleros Armon will build the identical sister ships and the ships are expected to begin operations in 2024.

The vessels will sail between the Italian island province of Sicily in the Mediterranean and Croatia in the Adriatic Sea, along with shorter crossings between different Italian islands
