Repeat order for sister vessels of “Düsternbrook” and “Gaarden”

After delivery of our battery systems to SFK’s plug-in hybrid ferry “Gaarden” and fully electric ferry “Düsternbrook” – of which the latter was awarded ‘Ship of the Year 2021’ by KNVTS – EST-Floattech was requested by System Integrator Holland Ship Electric to deliver the battery systems for ferries “Wellingdorf”, “Friedrichsort” and “Wik” too.

“Wellingdorf” is the sister vessel of “Düsternbrook” and measures 24.7 meters with a beam of 6.5 meters. Like its sister, “Wellingdorf” will be a completely emission-free vessel which is entirely powered by EST’s batteries and has 20 additional solar panels on its roof to contribute to the power supply of the electrical system on board.

With a total battery capacity of 1.092kWh, “Wellingdorf” has 273kWh more battery power than “Düsternbrook” and is set for delivery in June 2022.

The plug-in hybrid ferries “Friedrichsort”, set for delivery in February 2022, and “Wik”, set for delivery in March 2022, will be equipped with a battery capacity of 273kWh each, which is the same as their sister vessel “Gaarden”.

The batteries will be used for sailing within the city center, resulting in emission-free transport in the city.
